Fourth Dimension Engineering is seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the development of processes, procedures, fixtures and tooling to support the assembly of custom microelectronic devices in or around the Fort Meade, MD area.

 

The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:

  • Manufacturing process development, tool design, and equipment set-up/operation to support prototype and high volume production builds:
    • Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly – solder paste dispense, component pick and place, reflow, underfill, inspection
    • Hybrid assembly – wafer processing (dice, backgrind, sort, inspect), die attach, wire bonding, flip chip, dam & fill, transfer molding, balling, lidding, laser/ink marking, inspection
  • Leveraging Solidworks, or similar design software package to design and draft components for advanced microelectronic applications
  • Collaborating with and training highly-skilled manufacturing technicians, assembly operators and engineers within a team setting
  • Conducting and documenting engineering trade studies, analyses and tests.

The following experience areas are preferred, but not required:

  • Researching, qualifying and adapting new microelectronics packaging and assembly techniques
  • Engineering statistics background – Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Failure analysis background
  • Troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems

BUYER/LOGISTICIAN

Fourth Dimension Engineering in Columbia, Maryland is seeking a talented and experienced Buyer/Logistician.  The successful candidate shall order, receive and inventory parts, components, supplies and equipment. The Buyer/Logistician shall also pack and ship classified and unclassified items and shall maintain accurate accountability records for classified and unclassified Government Furnished Equipment and Material.

Fourth Dimension Engineering (4D) (http://www.fourthdim.com/) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support electronics packaging design and manufacturing at our Columbia, MD office. Specifically, this position will focus on the development of a quick-turn, in-house additive manufacturing capability for the design and fabrication of printed electronics. Tasking may include:

  • 3D CAD and drafting of mechanical/electrical components and assemblies
  • Performing engineering analyses: thermal, structural, fit/tolerance
  • Fabricating, assembling and qualifying 1st article engineering prototypes
  • Setting-up, operating and optimizing manufacturing equipment/processes

All activities will be designed to give the intern a full understanding of the engineering design lifecycle and insight into the role that Mechanical Engineers play at 4D. To facilitate their education and the quality of their experience each intern is paired one-on-one with a mentor of the same discipline.

Specifically, this position will focus on the development of a quick-turn, in-house additive manufacturing capability for the design and fabrication of printed electronics. Tasking may include:

  • 3D CAD and drafting of mechanical/electrical components and assemblies
  • Performing engineering analyses: thermal, structural, fit/tolerance

Specifically, this position will focus on the development of a quick-turn, in-house additive manufacturing capability for the design and fabrication of printed electronics. Tasking may include:

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in system solutions and digital electronics design as a key member of a small development team.
